COP-16: Indigenous Youth of Asia Pacific on Climate Justice

powerful statements and interventions by youth from many continents.

---------- Forwarded message ----------
Dear friends,

Please kindly refer to attached two documents when drafting statements.

Those are the collective statements developed by Indigenous youth from 11 countries in Asia and Pacific region at the occassion of Indigenous Climate Youth Camp this past November. In the text of the statements, Indigenous youth expressed their visions and specific perspectives toward climate change, generated recommendations and proposed action plans to be carried out. The Indigenous youth at the Camp couldn't generate sufficient resources to participate in the COP 16 negotiations, but we sincerely appreciate if our words can be taken into consideration and integrated into the statements developed there in Cancun.

I also attached the action proposal of the photo campaign "Indigenous Peoples are NOT for SALE! Listen to Indigenous Peoples' solution for climate justice", which is also one of the outcomes of the Camp. With this campaign, we are calling for the full and active participation of the Indigenous peoples, including indigenous youth and women in all climate change decision making processes and expresses our disapproval of any forms of market-based solutions to mitigate climate change such as REDD and REDD Plus mechanisms.

Many Thanks,
Jocelyn
